The Systems Building Research Alliance (SBRA), formerly the Manufactured Housing
Research Alliance (MHRA), will pay retailers and community owners a rebate for
each new ENERGY STAR qualified manufactured home they sell to customers of Southern
California Edison. Retailers and community owners are eligible for a $400
rebate for each gas/oil heated home equipped with an air conditioner and a $750
rebate for each electrically heated home equipped with a heat pump. The
2008 rebate program has been extended to include homes that were built in the
plant by December 31, 2008. We expect that the program will continue for homes
built in 2009, but Edison has yet to begin accepting rebate applications for homes
built this year. Edison is sponsoring the rebate program to increase sales
of ENERGY STAR homes within their service territory. The program is a win-win
for all involved, with the manufacturer qualifying for the federal tax credit,
the homebuyer purchasing a more comfortable and efficient home that will help
lower their monthly energy bills, and now the rebate for home retailers and community
owners. For many utilities, improved efficiency can be a cost-effective
strategy for reducing electric demand and system peaks, factors that reduce the
need to build additional generating capacity. Underwriting a portion of the costs
of ENERGY STAR construction through a rebate program is a good fit with their
overall efficiency portfolio and reaches a segment of their customer base that
has been difficult to reach in the past. To help retailers and community
owners sell new ENERGY STAR homes in Edison's service area, SBRA will provide
at no cost marketing materials, including a sales video DVD, posters, brochures,
window decals, and site flags. To obtain these materials, simply fax or email
a completed Marketing
Materials Request Form to SBRA. This offer is only available to participating
retailers and communities. Retailers and community owners should contact
their manufacturer representatives for information about their ENERGY STAR options.
If you have any questions, contact Gwynne Koch, SBRA ENERGY STAR and CertifiedGreen
Program Coordinator, at 212-496-0900 ext. 12 or gkoch@research-alliance.org.

Rebate
Step

that the homebuyer is a customer of Southern California Edison. If neither you
nor the homebuyer knows, contact Gwynne Koch at 212-496-0900 ext. 12 or gkoch@research-alliance.org.
Be sure to have the home's street address on hand.
Step
2. Order the Home | | Contact

STAR homes. See the list of Participating Home Manufacturers.
| | | | Step
3. Select the Appropriate Equipment
Select the appropriate heating/cooling equipment and the correct capacity.
Homes with electric heat must have a heat pump installed to qualify for
the rebate. Follow the home manufacturer's sizing recommendation or select the
correct size from the Sizing
Chart. | | | | | |
Step
4. Verify the ENERGY STAR Installation Items
After the home is installed, use the Site Installation Checklist (provided
by the home manufacturer with each home) to verify completion of the ENERGY STAR
installation items. Sign the Checklist and the gray SBRA quality assurance label
that is affixed to the home. Mail or fax the completed Checklist to the home manufacturer.
If this step is completed by the home manufacturer, request a copy of the Site
Installation Checklist. Please contact your manufacturer representative for
more information about their Site Installation Checklist.
Step
5. Apply for the Rebate | | |
Fill out a
Rebate Application. Attach a copy of the completed Site Installation Checklist
and A/C or heat pump purchase order for each home included on the application.
