Rebate Program for ENERGY STAR Manufactured Homes
Tennessee Valley Authority's Service Area

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is offering rebates for energy efficient manufactured homes sited in their seven-state service area. Effective January 1, 2015, home manufacturing plants can receive $1,200 for each ENERGY STAR certified home and $1,275 for every ENERGY STAR home built with additional energy efficiency features, called "Plus" homes. To be eligible, homes must be electrically heated, equipped with a heat pump and sold to a customer of a TVA member utility.

Participating HVAC distributors receive $500 for every heat pump sale. The HVAC distributor rebate covers most or all of the difference in price between a straight air conditioning system and a heat pump so customers can upgrade to a more efficient heat pump at little to no added cost.

While the incentives go to manufactured home builders and HVAC distributors, the real beneficiary is the customer, who will enjoy the energy savings for the life of the home. Compared to a conventional manufactured home without a heat pump, ENERGY STAR homes will lower home electric bills by about $70 per month, providing thousands of dollars in savings over the life of the home. ENERGY STAR homes also are more comfortable, quieter, require less maintenance and are likely to have higher resale value.

To take advantage of the rebate, plants should contact Gwynne Koch, SBRA Program Manager, at (212) 496-0900 x120 or for details.
