Rebate Program for ENERGY STAR Manufactured Homes
Tennessee Valley Authority's Service Area

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is offering rebates for energy efficient manufactured homes sited in their seven-state service area. Effective January 1, 2014, home manufacturing plants can receive $1,300 for each ENERGY STAR certified home and $1,375 for every ENERGY STAR home built with additional energy efficiency features, called "Plus" homes. To be eligible, homes must be electrically heated, equipped with a heat pump and sold to a customer of a TVA member utility.

Participating HVAC distributors receive $500 for every heat pump sale. The HVAC distributor rebate covers the difference in price between a straight air conditioning system and a heat pump so customers can upgrade to a more efficient heat pump at no added cost.

While the incentives go to manufactured home builders and HVAC distributors, the real beneficiary is the customer, who will enjoy the energy savings for the life of the home. Compared to a conventional manufactured home without a heat pump, ENERGY STAR homes will lower home electric bills by about $70 per month, providing thousands of dollars in savings over the life of the home. ENERGY STAR homes also are more comfortable, quieter, require less maintenance and are likely to have higher resale value.

To take advantage of the rebate, plants should contact Gwynne Koch, SBRA Program Manager, at
(212) 496-0900 x120 or gkoch@research-alliance.org for details.

Collecting the Rebate - Home Manufacturers
Step 1.
Verify Home Location
When you receive an order, use the Zip Code Lookup Tool to verify that the home is a customer of a TVA member utility.

For a service area map and complete list of TVA Member Utilities, see below.

Step 2. Coordinate
with Retailer
Check with the retailer to make sure the home is also receiving a heat pump discount under TVA's Volume Heat Pump Program for Manufactured Homes. Refer to the List of Retailers purchasing equipment from participating HVAC distributors.

If the retailer is not receiving a discount on the heat pump, tell them to contact TVA's representative, Lisa Haislip, at (615) 232-6914 or lahaislip@tva.gov.

Step 3.
Build and
Report Home
Report ENERGY STAR home production in Information Manager. Before saving the home record, remember to select TVA Rebate Program and enter the home's Floor Area (sq. ft.)
Step 4.
Send Checklist to Retailer
Print the Heat Pump Make and Model Number chart on the back side of your ENERGY STAR Site Installation Checklist and provide it to the retailer with instructions for completing.
Step 5.
Collect Completed Checklists
Coordinate with retailers to complete the Checklist, including the heat pump information. Keep a copy for the plant's files and make a copy to submit with the invoice to SBRA. Update the home's record in Information Manager, completing all Homeowner Information fields.
Step 6.
Invoice SBRA
By the last business day of each month, submit an itemized invoice that lists for each home the serial number, address and homebuyer's full name. Include a copy of the Checklist and Heat Pump information for each home listed on the invoice. Mail or email all documentation to:
